Overview
Three screw pump is one of the important types of fluid transfer equipment used for lubrication, non-abrasive oil based liquid, it is also referred to as triple screw pump, three spindle pump or three rotor pump.
This pump is a positive displacement pump that transfers fluid amounts through cavities of several shape. The pumping elements consist of three moving parts: the power rotor (main screw) and two symmetrically opposed idler rotors‚ all operating within close fitting housing bores. The screws are also matched with the three inset holes, several sealed moving chambers are thereby formed in between the pump inlet and outlet end. These closed chambers will take the medium inside to move from the inlet end axially and let flow pressurized progressively, to have a continuous, constant, axial flow pressured liquid.
We can rotate the pump body axial 180 degree for changing the fluid flow direction, it should be noted that it is not designed absolutely with radial symmetric flange structure.
SM serial three screw pump has several mechanical and bearing combinations according to temperature and characteristics of fluid. U2 plan is structure which uses single end face mechanical seal and internal bearing, because the bearing can be lubricated by the fluid and the temperature of the fluid is up to 80℃. E6.7 plan is structure which uses single end face mechanical seal and external bearing, because the bearing cannot be lubricated by the fluid or the temperature of the fluid is up to 150℃. E15 Plan is structure which uses metal bellows mechanical seal and external bearing, because the bearing cannot be lubricated by the fluid or the temperature of fluid is up to 250℃.
The matching length of the screws is near triple the lead length, so the differential pressure is up to 100 bar.
There are many specifications such as SM40, SM80, SM120, SM210, SM280, SM440, SM660, SM940, SM1300, SM1700, SM2200, SM2900. The Arabic numeral part represents the rated displacement of the pump at 1450 speed (the helix angle is 46 degrees).
Pumps within the same specification can also be changed by different helix angle to fully match the delivery flow and pressure conditions of customers, such as 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 50, 52, 54 degrees.
